Our Current Mission - Ecuador
Our mission for the 2010/11 school year is to adopt a village in Ecuador to help lift them out of poverty by promoting education. The sustainable, “Adopt a Village” project combines the efforts of current and former student-athletes from across the world with local Ecuadorian villagers to provide them with new schools, adequate healthcare, clean water and sanitation, and alternative income sources.
Our primary mission is to build schools. We know that through education we can make a life-changing difference for generations to come.
We’ll be traveling to Ecuador during late June and early July of 2011 with a team of student-athletes from a variety of schools to enact the project. We’re working with an experienced non-profit called Free the Children, who has helped to build 500 schools around the world and will be taking care of all the logistics and accommodations for our trip. They are the same organization we travelled to Kenya with and we could not have been more impressed with how smoothly everything ran and how well organized the whole trip was.
During our time in Ecuador, we’ll work side by side with the community to build the schools. We’ll also assist with healthcare projects as well as interact with with the children to teach sports skills, teamwork, and leadership.
It truly will be a life-changing experience for all involved!
