How to Get Involved

We are always excited to get more people involved in our cause! If you are a current or former student-athlete, coach, or athletic administrator looking to use your talents to better the world, we would love to have you on board!

You have a variety of ways to join the cause.

1. Start by joining our cause on Facebook and signing up for our newsletter list for regular updates.

Help spread the word, donate to the cause, or simply show your support by joining our Facebook cause and begin making an impact. (Please spread the word with any interested teammates and friends as well.)

2. Join a SALSC Committee

Get involved by joining a SALSC Committee. Our committees include marketing, fundraising, social media, etc. You’ll get to work along with other student-athletes to promote our cause and gain valuable real-world experience.

3. Raise Awareness and Money for the Cause

Talk with your teammates and school about raising money to help the Adopt a Village program. There are dozens of ways you can raise money like sports clinics, dances, bake sales, etc. Every little bit helps!

4. Build a School and Join Us on the Trip for $11,500

If you are highly committed to the cause like student-athletes at Michigan, Illinois, and Lehigh, you might want to try to Adopt a Village with the help of the student-athletes, coaches, and fans of your school. If your team or school is able to raise $11,500 by March 1, 2011, you’ll be able to build a school in Ecuador and join us on the trip!

You could have your school sponsor the project, get your Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) involved, or simply take the cause on with your team.  Please contact us by November 15, 2010 if this is your goal as we have a limited number of spots available for lodging.

5. Serve as a Mentor (Former Student-Athletes)

We are always in need of former student-athletes who want to get involved in the project by serving as mentors and advisors. You advice, experience, and connections can be a huge help to our cause.

6. Submit a Social Change Idea You are Passionate About

You can submit a social change idea for SALSC to consider for a future school year. If selected, your project will have the power and passion of hundreds of student-athlete leaders across the country behind it. Let us know the cause you are passionate about and consider adopting it for a future year. We’ll also be able to potentially connect you with student-athletes at other schools and alumni who might want to help.
