Discovering a Passion

Hi, I’m a student-athlete at UNC-Chapel Hill. I’m a redshirt sophomore on the volleyball team and have had the privilege of getting to know and getting involved with SALSC and its overall mission. As a student-athlete, giving back to the community is very important to me. I believe it is important for all blessed and talented student-athletes to realize the gifts they have been presented with and the skills they have acquired through sport can be turned around and re-gifted to others in need. There are always community service options available. For example, today some of my team mates and I, along with some Field Hockey and Soccer players were able to visit a local elementary school to interact with a third grade class and tell them what it’s like to be a student-athlete at UNC. Reaching out to children and the youth in the area represents one of the many ways student-athletes can make a difference.  SALSC seeks to expand that window of opportunity, which is why this organization is something I am passionate about. There are severely underprivileged individuals scattered throughout the developing world, SALSC provides a way to lend a helping hand. As an athlete, I’m all for a challenge.
